We have selected the largest, newer songs that changed both us and the artists who wrote them.

Soundworks journalist had a deep personal encounter with Suzanne Vega, old lovers, mad professor and naïve house producers. See the whole program about Vegas immortal here below!

Together with Swedish and Danish journalists, we have followed in the footsteps of Roxette's "The Look", Jay-Z's "Hard-Knock Life", Metallica's "Enter Sandman," "In Da Club" of 50 cents and "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak . The stories behind the songs show that:
- Roxette became international stars thanks to an unstoppable exchange student.
- Helena Christensen and Chris Isaak was not in love when they played the video for "Wicked Game".
- One song turned the whole career of the now world's biggest rappers and the world's biggest metal band.

The story of "Tom's Diner" spans nearly 30 years, and drag you through the dirty folk clubs, large discotheques, cyber space and the way to the top of hittlistene. Suzanne Vega's simple acapellalåt was written back in 1981, but would have greater consequences than anyone had predicted. The song's simplicity has proved to be its greatest strength, and has given "Tom's Diner" punch to popular culture.

Peter Hook of Joy Division and New Order, NRK Lydverket, London, 21 January 2010

Peter Hook was bass player in both Joy Division and New Order heading to Larm festival to give lectures for Norwegian industry people and musicians.

Peter Hook take a trip to this year's Larm festival to hold a seminar for Norwegian industry people and artists. Manchester legend has played in both Joy Division and New Order and delivered bass lines on "Love Will Tear us apart," "Glass" and "Radio" and the all-time best-selling twelve-inch "Blue Monday".

In addition, Hook was part owner of the legendary club and concert venue The Hacienda, referred to as "the world's most famous nightclub" by Newsweek. The club was one of the driving forces behind the emergence of acid house in the late eighties, a wave that made Manchester to Madchester.

In the fresh (and dry witty-titled) book Hacienda - How Not to Run A Club says Peter Hook story behind the night club as he remembers it. A large part of the book is about how the Happy Mondays record sales funded the Hacienda, which mostly went into deficit. While the band was paid £ 20 each week, the huge sums of money from record sales disappointed in the night club to cover up the red numbers.

In other words NOK to learn of the Hook when he is interviewed by Olaf Furniss under Larm festival.

Conjoined Twin Sisters

CHICAGO, IL - SEPTEMBER 6:

A set of conjoined twins who have never looked each other in the eye have been given a glimmer of hope they may one day be separated - and live to tell the tale. Doctors tried and failed to separate loveable sisters Tatiana and Anastasia Dogaru, seven, in a gruelling 10-hour op in 2007, at the age of three. Now four years later signs suggest the sisters are reaching a point where a separation might be possible but highly dangerous. In their first interview since failed efforts to separate their girls, mum and dad Claudia, 35, a nurse, and Alin Dogaru, 36, a priest, have revealed they are in an 'unbearable race against the clock' to have their girls separated, they soon face a risky decision that could mean life or death for their daughters. New tests have revealed the girls blood pressures - with Tatiana's previously high and Anastasia's low in a medical mystery - are beginning to balance. It's a crucial factor in the complicated separation surgery. A separation of similar twins Rital and Ritag Gaboura by doctors at London's Great Ormond St last month gave them further hope.
